Another Blogiversary.

WARNING: Salty language.

Tumbleweeds are blowing through my blog.

Comments seem to have dwindled to nothing. And yet, there are comments; they're just not here anymore. They're lightly sprinkled across Facebook, Twitter, G+ and Ello. I sometimes wish I could scrape my social media platforms and bring the comments all back here to keep forever! Proof of your appreciation of my work all in one place!

Whoever invents such a magical plugin will be forever revered.

Is blogging dead? One can't really entertain such thoughts without circling back to why we blog. Why we make art. I fucking hate it when people say to me, "but, how do you make money doing a blog?" Fuck off asshole. I don't make money. I draw because I CAN'T HELP IT. Yeah, I'm poor. So what.

I always did fall through the cracks when it came to what kind of a blog this is. I mean, it's not like you could say "this here is a blog about fashion malfunctions" or "this blog is all about awkward recipes" or "the horrors of family life" or "dangerous political satire" or "yawn-worthy content marketing" or even about "preposterous sex positions"...I can't check just one box yawl.

Instead you get the eclectic mix that is me. And you get it in drawings and animation. But that lack of a niche means I have no dedicated audience. You guys are all over the map. And just as I discovered that I don't really fit in the animation world, after half a decade of blogging conferences, I now see that I don't really fit in the bloggers world either.

Fuck you tumbleweed.

But it matters not. Five years and thousands of (totally free) drawings later, The Animated Woman is still around, if somewhat sporadically of late. So Happy Blogiversary motherfuckers. I love you all.

Four Year BLOG-iversary.

HOLY CRAP-A-DOODLE. I missed my fourth Blog-iversary.

It was on June 21st.

There's just too dang much going on around here: two books, three films, three teenagers in my face...life is rushing past me! I barely have time to live it, let alone record it in drawings.

Never mind. You can still wish me a Happy Blog-iversary if'n you want to.

Or...you could draw me a card!! If you do, I will post it below. And it will make me very, very happy. Prolly won't happen, but you never know.

Three Year BLOG-iversary.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming of "Ball" (a series) to bring you a special announcement. Today is my Blogiversary. I've been blogging for three years. I didn't feel like drawing cake on account of it being so summery today. So here's some watermelon.

This is my 425th blog post....I do not know how many drawings I've done as The Animated Woman, but it must be thousands. 

Happy Blog-iversary to me. Thank-you for letting me distract you.

The Show Must Go ON...!

My precious Grandma slipped away from us today. At 97, she was finally ready. When I heard the news, I went to be with my family; I hugged them tight. And as we left I turned to blow my Grandma one final kiss from the doorway. But she was already gone.

Even though we were expecting this at any moment, the tears still surprised me. And then I thought what she would say;

"The Show must go on!" She'd stamp her walker, throw her head back and laugh. She had quite the laugh for such a tiny person! It shook the chandelier.

And so, since the show must go on, I invite you to scroll way, way, waaaaaaaay down...

Today is my Blogiversary. It's been two years since I leaped into the Blogger Abyss and never looked up. We've had giggles, tears, stories, eye rolling, we've poked fun at social media and we've shared the lighter side of parenting. It's been fun and I suppose I've done rather a lot of drawing.

Thank-you to all who have visited me here. I love you.

The Most EPIC Contest Evar.

In celebration of my (hopefully) imminent 10,000 followers on Twitter, my ONE YEAR blogging thing, and my sudden overwhelming desire to draw myself as The Queen, I'm having another contest.

I've done contests before but this one's a little different. First off, some unsuspecting person will be my 10,000th follower and that person will get a t-shirt with The Queen on it. Who knows? I may even do another Twitter Stiptease.

*If I've already drawn you, I guess I could draw your pet or your kid instead.

Third Prize: . Your face will be put on a t-shirt and sent to you. You'll wear it so much that eventually it'll be all faded and limp, but you'll refuse to throw it away because it's a drawing of you. Well, it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, right?

One Year BLOG-iversary

One year ago today I became The Animated Woman! I've always been animated but, you know what I mean, I started the BLOG. My first post was more of a test run, so it's the second post that counts really...it was animated! And FUNNY.

After one year at the bottom of the Blogger Abyss, I've done many drawings and made a lot of you laugh...

...and even moved a few of you to tears.

I've drawn many of you!

I've helped some people, and hopefully made their lives a little better.

Twitter has played a big part in inspiring me.

When things were bad my fans and friends have been here.

Some of you have helped me find my way in the Abyss and I'm so grateful for that.

Cuz it's dark down here!

And there are now so many of you who come and visit me...

...and leave me nice little comments that I can drool over in quiet moments.

And rain or shine, I'll be drawing. I don't know how long I'll be blogging, but let's try to make the most of it.
