The JOY of Google.

I don't know if you know this but my Mother in Law has been visiting us here in Montreal for about a month. While this may seem like an unbearable punishment to some folks, I actually get along really well with my MIL. She's very special to me and we're close.

Anyways, the MIL is a self-confessed Luddite.

Although The Huz got her a nice laptop at her home in England Land, it never really clicked with her.

It's kinda hard to learn something so completely new like The Internet all by yourself, right?

And Google can be a confusing to a noob - there's so many shiny things to navigate around!

But since she's been here she's had us to help her along whenever she accidentally clicks on the wrong thing.

I think she's really starting to get the hang of it now.

My MIL has a curious nature; so Google is like a vast library full of answers to her many questions.

Questions like: What was the name of that song by that guitarist? What TV series did that actor play in when he was 17? And (this is my favorite) what ever happened to so-and-so that I used to know?

Google has the answers in there somewhere. I think she enjoyed herself.

When I showed her these drawings my MIL cracked up. She really liked seeing herself depicted as a toon, which was very gratifying for me. But at the end, she said, "You've forgotten the drawing where I'm drooling with satisfaction afterwards."

To which my response was, "Oh no, I didn't...!"

Hilarity ensued.

Island CASTAWAY.

WARNING: You may want to wear safety glasses while watching this video. I'm just saying.

@TrashCanRoxanne shot this video. She's my BFFF. I know, there's an extra "F" in there and some day I'll tell you all about it. But for now, here's a taste of what we got up to last week in the Bahamian islands...

There was practically no one on the beach while we were filming, except for this one older dude. As he passed (casting his annoying shadow into the frame) he said to Rox, "I teach middle school; I know what you're going through." I think he thought I was her crazed teenaged daughter. Aw shucks! Folks are always saying that about me and Rox.

On a scale of 1 to 11, what silliness factor do you give this vid?

BED Sweet BED.

This is the awesome conclusion to the Bed's Too Big series.

Going away is cool and all, but it's definitely great to be home. Just don't mention the word "tiles" yet...

FISH and CHIPS.

Flew to London, then jumped on the train down to Penzance - a total of 24 hours of travelling. Although happy to be back in the arms of the Huz, I'm majorly jetlagged and it ain't pretty. In fact I'm going to draw the Jetlag Monster just to get even. But first things first. A gal's got to have priorities after all. So here's a rare vlog from me about England's national dish: Fish and Chips.

Anyone who mentions "tiles" or "DIY" before this holiday is up gets a knuckle sandwich rather hard stare.

Not My HUSBAND.

Three weeks down and three to go. The bed is still waaaay too big.

This is the t-shirt he was wearing when I first bonked him* over the head with my club and dragged him into my cave. Twenty years ago.
*Yeah, that too.

I think this may be the longest we've ever been apart. Thanks for all the hugs from friends and followers...you guys got any other fun suggestions for making it through the night...?

THRILL Rides.

My friend Robin and I took our boys to the Montreal amusement park, La Ronde. Her son had made a fabulous recovery from appendicitis thanks to my PICKLEWeasel Bandaid, and had just been given the Doctor's all clear to celebrate by being hurtled through space on a number of death-defying thrill rides. Factor in the junk food and this place is paradise for an eleven year old.

Everyone knows that if you don't want to lose your lunch on a ride, the best thing to do is to scream non-stop. My screaming muscles were in tip-top condition. I was ready!

The first really scary one we went on was called The Vampire, aptly named as it will suck the life right out of you.

Robin sat this one out. I swear I could not figure out where the ride began and ended, it really looked like a bunch of spaghetti to me. Which is pretty much how I felt when I got off it.

We decided to recover on the kiddie ride that looked like it was made of Swiss Cheese.

Then the boys managed to convince us to go on The GOLIATH. Even Robin decided to join us. This rollercoaster is huge! I mean it covers a lot of distance. No way could I fit it all on one drawing.

They start you off by slowly cranking you up a 175 foot incline and then drop you almost straight down. And up. And down. Etc. Crazy fun I tellya.

Just as you're dropping down that first big drop they take a picture of you - FLASH! - so not only are you terrified but you're also seeing spots everywhere.

Unless you're Robin, in which case your eyes are shut tight pretending you're at the spa.

Afterwards, Robin said my hair was "bigger". I won't need another blowdry for at least a year. We agreed the Goliath was the funnest. But I'm all screamed out!
Most terrifying thrill ride you've ever been on?

The Bed's TOO Big.

I miss him already.

The Huz has gone to London to hang with his family and friends. I do get him 11 months of the year so I mustn't complain. And he always leaves something behind...

Hug?

Thanks to @Gerbalaya for inspiring this drawing.

upsFAIL

It's important to have a sense of humour in life; animation comes in especially handy for this as you might imagine, haha. I tweeted all day long about my wayward Macbook Pro, (which I bought after seeing a DEAD Rat), that was apparently supposed to be delivered last Friday, and was apparently going to be delivered any minute now.

Now this laptop is no ordinary luxury item - I mean, yeah, it's kickass and all - but I need it for work, because I have an animation job I have to deliver right after my family vacation. I know, I'm not supposed to work on my vacation; but for me, it's actually fun. I mean really wanted to get the badass Dell, but it wasn't going to get delivered in time, so I went for the Mac instead. They promised me I'd make my deadline. You get the irony here? Dudes I am leaving in ONE WEEK. It's getting a little tight!

My twitter following is awesome; they held my hand ALL DAY LONG. One of them, super dude @DaddyYoEffinRox of the DaddyYoBlog, suggested I animate this. I thought it totally RAWKED!! So I did =D

And...I offer it to you, all my lovely tweeples who helped me crawl through the day. It's short but hey, so is life, right?

Now please cross your fingers that I get that *bleep* *bleep* *bleeeeeeep* ing laptop tomorrow.

Did JC ever get her laptop? Check the Lost and Found.
