Letting GO.

My big grownup 16 year old daughter left for the UK last week. She's going to visit her Granny for three weeks, and it's her first big trip all by herself.

We drove her to the airport and off she went.

I'm very proud of her. And I miss her.

  1. It's bittersweet moment. I can relate since my daughter's only two and seems to be growing so quickly. Just seems like the jump from 1 to 3 happens so fast.

  9. My daughter is 17. She was hit from behind while driving to school earlier this week. She called me right after the accident and though the voice I heard on the other end of the line was that of a poised young woman, I couldn't help but imagine her as a little girl. Being a mommy is tough work.

  10. @ JenniferfromLaJolla - WHAT?!? Oh man....see now, that is exactly what I'm talking about right there. You can't put them back inside, right?

What they don't tell you about having children is that the umbilical cord is made of some indestructible fibres. No matter how many times you try to cut it, it just grows back together.

  21. I hear you! My youngest is 23 and has a heart for missions. He has been all over the world since about 14. The good byes, and the missing him, are always hard, but the welcome homes, and the pride in who he is ... make it worth it!

  22. My oldest went to Spain when was 15, with her grandparents though. Leaving her was heart wrenching - and she wasn't alone! Can't imagine how it would have been without them flying with her. Aye!!!
