Hurricane IRENE.

Hurricane Irene scares the living crap out of me and I'm not even in her path. Turns out she's pissed cuz we've been spelling her name wrong.

Have you encountered the wrath of Irene? Bow down low people, and please stay safe.

Thanks to @TechyDad for inspiration and The Huz for the crown idea. You are awesome.

And when my very southern family says her name, it sounds exactly like "I Reign". ha!

  7. We've just enjoyed our first hurricane courtesy of Miss I Reign, here in Nassau. We're still waiting for our home in Eleuthera (read - tiny Bahamian island recently made flatter)to have it's lights/electricity/internet&phone restored, so I can assure you she truly does reign (and rain, and rain..)

  8. # Hurricane Irene -- WOW -- just got my electricity back. Kind of freaky sitting here in a silent house with the wind blowing around. Only lost one ceramic planter that the wind picked up and smashed to the ground. Raspberry bushes and jewel weed lying flat on the ground. Trees are bending to touch my front window--yikes. The hurricane hasn't even reached us yet! http://www.nytimes.com/projects/hurricanes/index.html. ROBIN--I'M HAPPY YOU ARE SAFE! You just got your "living in the Caribbean" stripes. How did I live through 6 years of watching hurricanes from my beach home?? Was I crazy or just younger and braver???

  10. Glad I could inspire you. Wish it didn't take Hurricane Irene, though. I'd much rather have been taking our 10th anniversary trip to Disney World without the kids (my parents would have watched them) instead of having to cancel the trip and sitting in the house in fear of floods, falling trees and loss of power. Curse you, Irene!*

    * Sorry. I've spent much of the day watching Phineas and Ferb with my boys.

  11. Robin!!! Dang I miss you guys. We're all so glad you're safe. And as SheWhoMustBeHrd says, you got your Caribbean stripes. Will Eleuthera have a chance to become less flat before the next hurricane blows through?
