#Hearts4Peachy.

Dear Peach,

Sometimes being a mom can break your heart.

Although I've never met you, I feel like I know you. Over the past year we've hung out online nearly every day. We've laughed, cried, and whispered secret secrets in our DMs. You're always there for me, every time I falter. You're like, my BFF on the Interwebs.

I live kinda far away and I can't hug you in person. But I can give you the next best thing...

And look - I brought the duct tape!

I hope it helps hold things together, while you rest and heal.

Love,

JC

Sandi Kirk, AKA @IamthePeachy1 suffered a small heart attack earlier this week. Trust me when I say she is waaaaaay too young for this. Her husband Lloyd the Droid left us a note on her Being Peachy blog. Please join me in sending good wishes for a speedy recovery. And... if you don't know the Peach yet, your life is about to get a whole lot peachier.

My 'To Do' LIST.

Yay! I just crossed almost everything off my list!!

I guess I'm maybe still suffering from the occasional bout of Overwhelmption. I don't care though, cuz this was fun. And I'm so desperate to procrastinate that I just made up a new version of 'me'. I call it my LilAnimoticon.

Thanks Twitter!

Free BANNER.

I was designing that last banner for Kadi Prescott and I found this other banner I made about a year ago. I don't even remember what it was for. But since it's just laying around I might as well give it away to someone who likes it. Who knows? Maybe someone out there could really use it, right? And if no one wants it, no harm done.

I reckon it might be good for someone busy; someone who likes a lot of nice clean white...with a strong graphic black line and, uh, spot colour....er, kinda like I have here on this blog. Heh heh.

Obviously the design comes pretty much "as is" except for the title, which I'll redo. Oh, and it's It's 1000 X 250 pixels.

If you're interested, just leave your name and Twitter @ in the comments. If there's more than one I'll do a draw, ok? Closing the entries on Thursday May 12 at 9 PM Montreal time!

YOU. @DigitalKadi.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting @DigitalKadi on Twitter. Kadi Prescott's a busy woman; she's got seven kids and a presence on at least as many networked sites. Kadi approached me to do the banner design for the launch of her personal blog Our Seven Seeds. Working closely with her, I got to know her a little and I laughed a lot. She's warm and funny, and passionate about her work in social media.

So Kadi had the idea that I should caricature her with her seven children as 'seedlings'. When I'd finished with the design her poor husband felt kinda left out! So I put him into the picture as well. Heh heh...

If you wanna see the banner go and check out her blog. And tell her The Animated Woman sent you.

Some DAY is Mothers DAY.

When I was growing up, there were rules. You couldn't do this, you couldn't do that. I hated those rules - they were seriously cramping my style! But whenever I complained, my mom would say to me, "Some day, you'll understand".

She never batted an eyelid.

A week after my 18th birthday, for reasons I won't go into here, I moved out of my parents' home. Freedom at last! I pretty much worked my own way through college and University and lived the life of a wild young woman. I partied non-stop and did some crazy things. I had waaaay too much fun. I was young...and unstoppable! Cuz there were NO MORE RULES.

I still saw my mom regularly and told her all about my crazy adventures....like the time I rollerskated down the steepest hill in Montreal in fast moving traffic wearing shorts and a pink bustier...

...or the time I took off to Greece and lived in a cave for two months...

...or the time I woke up in another city after partying all night with Mötley Crüe.

My mom never batted an eyelid.

Eventually I met my husband, settled down and soon after my first baby was born in London.

Nothing prepared me for the look that tiny child gave me when I first held her in my arms.

Her grey blue eyes fixed onto mine. Those eyes were brand new and seeing me for the first time ever.

They seemed to be checking me out, assessing me...judging me even.

A sudden realization crept over my soul like a cold grey shadow.

I fumbled for the phone by my hospital bedside, and dialed my mom in Montreal. And apologized for EVERYTHING. Just everything.

"Some day" had arrived to kick my ass.

I guess being a mom goes hand in hand with being a daughter. Happy Mothers Day Mummy, I love you.

Get a HOLD of Your SELF!

Yesterday I was all beaten Spiderman "...strength fading....can't hold on..."  I felt the Overwhelmption of the Rushing RIVER of Life.

Today, with a supreme effort, I managed to grab a hold of my self.

I was kinda struggling to hold on. But then I remembered, "Hey wait a minute - I can fly!!"

Who woulda thunk it! Can you fly too?

The Rushing RIVER.

I've always been busy, but lately it feels like my self is being swept away by my life.

How does one stay afloat in the rushing river? How do you hold on to the bits of you that matter?
