The Heart of ME.

All I had to do was answer one simple question:

"What do I love about me?"

...and it turned into a TERRIFYING existential excavation. I burst into tears decided to be brave. Rolling up my sleeves, I grabbed a shovel and fearlessly began to dig.

Don't get me wrong, I do love my "self".  But there's no one single quality that doesn't have a "best before" date stamped on it. Also I despise the admirable qualities I possess (honesty, bravery, gung-ho) because they always land me in a heap of trouble. So in an honest effort to bravely find the gung-ho answer to the question, I peered deep into The Heart of ME....

You gotta admit, that's not an easy thing to do, right? Cuz there's nothing there! Not even a heart of gold! And that, my friend is really farking scary. And potentially dangerous.

But I did it. And I still love my "self".

My clever 13 year old daughter suggested the combustible ending. Prolly cuz I ate all that spicy food when I was pregnant with her. FYI this film took three days to make.

Thanks to my pal @ClutteredBrain I'm humbly submitting this to the Mommyologist's Valentine love yourself bash thingie.

  1. I like your ability to bring emotion to the animation. Me is usually the part we are afraid to let others see, because if they see Me and don't like Me, I got nuttin. We think Me is too scary for the outside world and we may be right! Cool post!

  3. I've spent my entire life living for other people. I don't know how to love myself. Kelly is trying to teach me, and it's hard. I don't see myself the way she sees me. I am learning though. I hope that someday there will be something I like about myself. Someday..

  4. oh dear, there are many loveable things that others can list about you - but its so hard to be modest and also be able to honestly say what u love about urself.

  5. well done my dear....well done! The best part - that when you get way way down deep to the inner inner core of you, there's an inflated blow-up doll. Yeah...I saw sitting off to the side in the animation. haha

    Well done woman!

  8. Maybe the answer is that there are qualities. Period. And they live on this sliding scale, and can slide over to good or bad at anytime.

It's not that any quality is inherently good and bad all the time.

Perhaps, because you seem to have such a clear, shiny lens that you see things through you are viewing that concept and not realizing it.

So it's not that you aren't seeing what's good in you. It's that you are seeing the real truth. That nothing, no single quality, is good or bad until we make it so.

I think this is one of my favorite little films of yours friend.

  9. I don't know, but I think the inside of you just needs some organizing. I'm pretty sure the heart of gold was just hidden somewhere. :)

  18. Wow. That was amazing. So... other than explosives, what else did you find inside? The capacity to make the world a better place one cartoon at a time. That's what I think I'd find if I crawled inside you. And that is a very lovable trait.

  21. I'm guessing the heart of the answer is behind the great white shark. They tend to be in that sort of place.

  23. Maybe it says something about me that I *like* the inner core being made of combustible explosives...? But I dig it. This was awesomesauce, and I LOVED the animation along with dripping sarcasm. I also love farking - THAT is awesome too. Ok, I should stop talking before I begin to sound like a stalker. LMAO! I'd walk into the depths of nothingness with a funny gal like you no sweat. Can I bring the glow sticks (matches probably aren't a good choice).
