Ball.

I told my son this story. But it doesn't have an ending yet, so I decided to draw it into a little series. Let's see how it plays out...

Once I had a ball. Not everyone has a ball, you know. I knew I was lucky to have it.

I had my ball and I was happy.

Even when I was sad or when bad things happened, I could always play with my ball and I would feel better.

My ball made me strong, and funny, and smart.

I loved my ball so much.

But then one day, a Terrible Thing happened:

I lost my ball.

    1. Moving your cheese: I've never hear that expression. What does it mean?

    2. I don't know if anyone answered your question, but"who moved my cheese" by Spencer Johnson is a management inspirational book. It's actually a good read.

From Amazon: Who Moved My Cheese? is a simple parable that reveals profound truths about change. It is an amusing and enlightening story of four characters who live in a "Maze" and look for "Cheese" to nourish them and make them happy.
Two are mice named Sniff and Scurry. And two are "little people" -- beings the size of mice who look and act a lot like people. Their names are Hem and Haw.

"Cheese" is a metaphor for what you want to have in life -- whether it is a good job, a loving relationship, money, a possession, health, or spiritual peace of mind.

And "The Maze" is where you look for what you want -- the organization you work in, or the family or community you live in.

In the story, the characters are faced with unexpected change. Eventually, one of them deals with it successfully, and writes what he has learned from his experience on the maze walls.

  2. We all have that one toy that we just click with. I had a stuffed animal that did it for me. Of course, you now have me trying to remember what ever happened to it......

    1. When I was a child I had a plastic Yogi Bear with wheels. My parents got it second hand at Amos' House. I loved that thing.

  3. This sort of thing plays out on almost an annual basis in our house. We've mourned Greenie, and the princess ball, and lately, the purple one AND its big brother, the blue one. Usually, the wind takes them when someone leaves them outside. This time, however, we were just all clueless and blind, because I found the purple one and the blue one in a different bin in the garage.

  6. "Who moved my cheese" was a late 90's business book for embracing change. Acutaly worth a read, but more geared for 60ish old birds who think anyhing they learned in HS is the last thing you need to know.
