TV Series

Here's an episode from my TV series, "My Life ME". It's a tween comedy; animation what else?

I created it and my friends Cindy Filipenko and Svetlana Chmakova came on board as co-creators. Which turned out great because the broadcasters really liked the show. Basically our collaboration made it happen.

It has aired across Asia on the Disney Channel, and France, Portugal, Germany. In Canada it played on French Teletoon; the English version aired on Teletoon in Canada in September 2011 only. Due to a change in "mandate", it was only allowed one season. The show was nominated for a Best Animated Series Award at Kidscreen 2010...that was kind of cool. And there's a website MyLifeME.com which has games and extra animated goodies. The French version "3 et MOI" was nominated for a 2011 Gemini Award in two categories; Best Animated Series and Best Kids Website.

Although the show was intended for the 8 - 12 year old TV audience, it seemed to strike a nerve with the young adults that were the characters' ages (13, 14) back when the show was created (2005). This gave rise to an interesting, though short-lived, hatedom which played out on Youtube and various chat forums on the Internet. My view on this is simple - fans and haters are two cheeks of the same butt. I appreciate their point of view.

Thanks for watching!

  3. I saw you twice, so to speak: 1) the name of the director in the plaque, and 2) the director herself cutting the scene, or the actor. :P

  6. Season 2 where?
This show is a fountain of reaction macros.
As one of those "small dicks" I approve this show.
Just switch to more recent anime styles and this should get wider acceptance among anime crowd.

  7. Hey Anonymous -
    * Season 2 is highly unlikely.
*Teenagers are a fountain of reaction macros.
    *I guess that's cool, thanks.
*The style was designed in 2005. That explains that.

  8. ~Season 2 is highly unlikely? Why? :( I love the show the only people who don't seem to like it are people who arent even in the target audience. Awww :(

  9. Hi Thespiella, thanks for taking a moment to comment here. Actually it's not in my power to make a second season happen - it's up to the broadcaster, Teletoon in this case. My understanding is that they're focusing on shows for boys, 8 years old, for now. I'm sure if you follow them on Facebook and let them know you're a fan, it can't hurt.

    Cheers!

  10. Hello,

I just wanted to say that I seriously enjoy this show. As Thespiella pointed out, most non-fans are not in the target audience. However, I am not in the target audience either, yet I find this show absolutely hysterical. And no, I am not in it for shipping or fan-artworks or anything like that either. I genuinely enjoy it.

Best wishes for a second season!

  11. Hey thanks Don, your words are much appreciated. I'll pass them on to the team. It's good to know there are non-target viewers who 'get' this show.

  12. Hmmm, well other than Total Drama: Revenge of the island coming up they'll need a show for tweens eh? :)

Honestly I've watched Teletoon forever and this show is going to do well, I can feel it! There is a fanbase for it and if I don't hear of a second season, I'll start a petition for one and let you know :D

  15. I think this show is poorly made, and I honestly dislike all of the characters minus the crazy teacher. I've never read any of your previous works but I hear your other stuff is very good and the said fans I speak to that have said this also hate My Life Me.

Which makes me wonder did you honestly make everything with those two friends, or was there a lot of executive meddling?

My least favorite episode is where Birch tells off 'Miyazaki Lee' because he was making fun of an earlier manga Birch made. And she went psycho on him. Honestly she hated that as well and she was forced to make it. It speaks of bad anime fangirl upset that her own work sucks and refuses to take any criticism like a child :/

I have seen some of your other pieces of art around the 'net though. And from what I did see I liked. How could you go from that to this? Did you sell out? If you did don't feel bad money is money. Or did you make this seriously? :/

I hear that the animation was supposed to be different but the company went bankrupt or something? Is there more to that?

I know I'll probably get a lot of flak for not liking the show which is why I'm commenting as Anonymous and if you actually read and comment I thank you. As I'm not trying to be mean, but I'm honestly interested in what went into making this show.

Also I'd love it if you made a full version of Mr. Towes singing and dancing with the plant, a full song. Who voices him? He's got a good voice.

    1. Hey Anonymous. I guess you could start by checking out these two interviews I did after the series hatedom burgeoned forth. YouChew and The [Real] Scratchpad. They may answer some of your questions.

My Life Me was first created in 2005. Keep in mind that making a kids tv series takes a huge team. 52 scripts were written by about 12 writers, some in Canada and some in France. Scripts are always at the mercy of broadcaster approval in tv. Some turn out better than others, often the case with series.

      Cheers!

  16. Hello! I`m sorry for my bad English, but I'll do my best, Hi I'm from Mexico and one of the public television channels (Channel 11) began broadcasting the show since late 2013 and is currently (February 2014) is still in the air five days a week at 4:15 pm for a national audience, the recommended age for this show that the channel recommended is between 6 and 12 years old, isn't mainstream but it is one of the favorite Shows of the spectators of the channel 11, and well, I have 30 years old and I love this show, the characters are charming and very unique, and the plot is very funny, it's a great job and all the time make me smile, much better than other famous animated shows! I'm a big fan of anime and this is a great tribute to the style, I love it, more closely to the manga style

    1. Well hey, I'm glad you like it. The show is actually not anime, it was never intended to be. We wanted to do something that was inspired by manga, the storytelling devices from the actual comics.

I'm glad you're enjoying it, thanks for taking the time to stop by and tell me so.

    1. My Life Me is not anime. You'll have to go to Japan and find a traditionally animated show, then somehow transmorph yourself into it at 29.97 fps. Bring your processed food-products with you in case you find you hate ramen.
